James Hutson (1796 - ) James was born in Yarrow on 11 September 1796. He was the son of William Hutson of Selkirk and Helen Scott. He married Margaret Stoddart in about 1818/1819. Details of James' death are currently unknown. |

After their marriage James and Margaret remained living in Ashkirk, where James was employed as a labourer, until at least 1845, when the last of their children was born. The family does not appear in the Scottish Census records after 1841. In 1845 sons William and Walter appear in the 1851 census for Ontario, Canada. With the exception of daughter Helen, who had married James Keddie and remained in Scotland, the whole family eventually emigrated to McNab Township in Renfrew County, Ontario.
