Charlotte was born about 1888 in Leith, Midlothian. She was the daughter of Robert Menzies and Mary Agnes Kilgour.
As a child Charlotte lived at 2 Noble Place, Leith, later moving to 11 Shaw's Square in Edinburgh.
In 1901 at the age of 13 she was still a scholar, but by 1909 when she married Andrew she was working as a relief stamper.
Charlotte died on 22nd December 1961 at the City Hospital in Edinburgh. She was cremated at Warriston Crematorium in Edinburgh.
