Andrew was born on 14th March 1889 at 25 Greenbank Street, Galashiels. He was the son of Andrew Keddie and Margaret Cavers.
Andrew moved with his family around Galashiels, to 18 Huddersfield Street, then to 67 St Andrews Street.
When he was 13 he left St Peters Episcopalian School to work.
In 1909 he was living as a yardsman in Edinburgh, living at 96 Morrison Street.
He married Charlotte Menzies on 23rd April 1909 at St Thomas's House in South Leith when he was 20.
He died in 1966 aged 77.
