Margaret was born on 4th December 1856 in Kersknowe, Eckford. She was the illegitimate daughter of Joan Cavers and possibly Jim Wilkinson (not confirmed). Joan and Jim may have married 2 years after Margaret's birth.
In 1861 when she was 4 years old Margaret lived in Stitchell, Roxburghshire.
In 1871, age 14, she lived in Over Roxborough and was a scholar.
Margaret died of vascular heart disease on 16th June 1905 at the Cottage Hospital in Galashiels.
