Janet Keddie (1846 - )

Janet was born about 1846 near Bowden.

In 1851 she lived in Nether Brotherton, Fala, with her family, attending the local school.

In 1861 at nearly 15 years old, she was still a scholar, and lived with her family at Blacks Farm in Nenthorn.

In 1871 she was a domestic servant and still lived at home with her parents in Headshawe Cottage in Ashkirk.

She married John Brunton of Smailholm on 17 August 1877

John Brunton (1855 - )

John was born in Smailholm in 1855, the second child of James Brunton and Janet (Jessie) Walker.

He went to school in New Smailholm until he went to work as an agricultural labourer. In 1871 he was living and working in Gallalaw, Kelso.

John died after 1909, no details are currently known of his death.
